How to survive in (and enjoy) Boracay

Yeah, it's expensive and made me wonder if it was worth it? I know I'm being bitchy. But hey, I got 3 kids!

We went to Boracay on March 21, 2010 and stayed for 4 days. Needless to say, we went bankrupt!

To survive in Boracay, you got to:
  • there are plenty of one- or two-room accommodations in Boracay. Rooms can be had for P1,500 and some can accommodate up to 6 pax without added charge. it just takes a little patience to look for these
  • cook your meals or magpaluto. Hipon is only P200 per kilo in D talipapa (station 2), and pork is only P180, same as in Manila. Paluto near the palengke ranges from P100 to P150. Not bad.
  • If you don't want to cook, eat in Andoks - they have a variety of food there, not just barbecued chicken
  • don't let your kids buy lots of bling-blings, unless the money's from their own savings (the necklaces are pretty and cheap, so it's very tempting)

To enjoy Boracay:

  • try the banana boat. It's more fun than island hopping, and more worth the money
  • i wanted to try parasailing. But i got no more money. It costs P2,500 and can hold up to 2 people
  • go to Puka Beach - there's nolumot / seaweeds there so it's more fun. It's just that tricycle costs P150 one way.

Have fun!
